  1. Apple does not officially support eGPUs within Windows Boot Camp. The MacBook Air, with its single Thunderbolt 3 bus, can be extremely finicky when it comes to connecting other devices in addition.
  2. Apple Boot Camp No Longer Requires USB Flash Drive to Install. Some very interesting changes in how Windows is installed in Boot Camp on OS. And then downloaded and set up the Windows drivers to the correct. Mac Pro; MacBook Air 13‑inch; MacBook Air 11‑inch; MacBook Pro 13‑.

Mar 27, 2019  Mac users who would like to install and enjoy Windows 10 on Mac machines without going through driver issues can now download the newest version of Boot Camp drivers from Apple. The new Boot Camp drivers should address issues with the trackpad on some MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models.

I'm setting up my MacBook Air for a Windows-only boot setup.
This was easy enough. It already had rEFIt on it, I just connected a Windows 7 boot thumb drive, and away I went.

However, it seems Apple does not let you download Bootcamp drivers outside of their assistant tool. Reinstalling OS X just for the drivers is ridiculous.

This laptop no longer has OS X on it at all. How do I get the required drivers? I cannot find them anywhere on Apple's support pages.

Every other manufacturer has their drivers available for download.

How do I download the Windows drivers for my 2010 MacBook Air without the BootCamp Assistant?

  • timothy-sutton's answer will make your life so much easier, go there first

  • For Windows 7 through 10, Apple have published a table of 'which download you need for which model' at https://support.apple.com/kb/HT5634. Win 7 download might work for Vista.

  • For WinXP, see robmathers' answer.

  • The hard way which follows here, taken from http://www.cafe-encounter.net/p682/download-bootcamp-drivers is your fallback if you want or need to work it from scratch.

    1. Download from Apple the http://swscan.apple.com/content/catalogs/others/index-lion-snowleopard-leopard.merged-1.sucatalog file. Don’t double-click it.
    2. Open the index-lion-snowleopard-leopard.merged-1.sucatalog file in a text editor or word processor.
    3. Search for each occurrence — as at August 2012 there were 6 — of BootCampESD.pkg. For instance, the one I needed is http://swcdn.apple.com/content/downloads/33/54/041-2011/pRtCDYcWShMLxFggy3TzFzmfnnWQNFQBfJ/BootCampESD.pkg
    4. Notice in each such URL, the /041-2011/ or similar /041-XXXXX/ bit of it.
    5. Below each such occurrence, notice the URL for a file with the same 041-XXXXX in it and ending in English.dist, e.g. 041-2011.English.dist
    6. Paste the URL for each such English.dist file into your browser and open that url. Here’s a list of them:
    7. Search for the Model Identifier for your Mac. For instance MacBookPro5,2 or Macmini4,1.
      • For instance the 041-2011 file contains these models: MacBook2,1 MacBook3,1 MacBook4,1 MacBook5,1 MacBook5,2 MacBook5,3 MacBook6,1 MacBook7,1 MacBookAir1,1 MacBookAir2,1 MacBookAir3,1 MacBookAir3,2 MacBookPro2,1 MacBookPro2,2 MacBookPro3,1 MacBookPro4,1 MacBookPro5,1 MacBookPro5,2 MacBookPro5,3 MacBookPro5,4 MacBookPro5,5 MacBookPro6,1 MacBookPro6,2 MacBookPro7,1 MacBookPro8,1 MacBookPro8,2 MacBookPro8,3 MacPro1,1 MacPro2,1 MacPro3,1 MacPro4,1 MacPro5,1 Macmini2,1 Macmini3,1 Macmini4,1 iMac5,1 iMac6,1 iMac7,1 iMac8,1 iMac9,1 iMac10,1 iMac11,1 iMac11,2 iMac11,3 iMac12,1 iMac12,2
      • How do you know your Model Identifier? Open System Information, and look in the Hardware Overview section. i.e. click Apple menu -> About this Mac -> More Info… -> Report -> Hardware -> and now read down the Hardware Overview looking for “Model Identifier:”
    8. Having found your 041-XXXXX number, download the BootCampESD.pkg url that has your number in it. Again, here’s a list of them:
    9. Be patient as it’s probably 600MB.
    10. Once your pkg is downloaded, double click it and install to a folder on your hard drive so you know where to find it.
    11. The folder contains a nest of folders, the last of which contains a dmg disk image file. Double click to open. Voila. Here are your Windows installer files.
    12. Copy them to a USB drive, or a burnable CD. It’s still 660MB or more, so it’s a full CD worth of burning time.
    13. Done. You can now proceed with Boot Camp assistant Windows installation.

source: http://www.cafe-encounter.net/p824/bootcamp-drivers-direct-download-of-bootcampesd-pkg . The page was aimed at people struggling with BootCamp, but either way, it gets you to the BootCamp.pkg file, which contains the drivers.

You still need open the OS X installer pkg file to get the the contents out, and to open a DMG file. If you are already in Windows, 7-zip will open it: http://www.cafe-encounter.net/p860/opening-a-bootcamp-driver-download-on-windows-7-or-8-with-7-zip

I have written a tool that helps me deploy Boot Camp in an organization where we manage a dual-boot lab environment, and one of its features is that it can download the driver package for arbitrary models:

Either git clone or download an archive of the repo, then within the root of the repo (using an iMac15,1 here as an example):

Kya Mast Hai Life follows Disney Channel's philosophy of reflecting. Sometimes TEDHI-Sometimes MEDHI, used as background song only. Kya Mast Hai Life is an Indian Teen drama which premiered on Disney Channel India. The series produced by Sol Productions premiered on 27 April 2009 after. Kya Mast Hai Life follows Disney Channel's philosophy of reflecting them, their. Songs: Koi hai koi true friend Ye to Jaan lo Are yaari hi hai asli dosti ab to. Kya mast hai life disney channel songs.

./brigadier --model iMac15,1

The --model option can be omitted and it will download the latest version for the current model. In cases where multiple installers exist on Apple's software update server, you specify an alternate package.

It runs on both OS X and Windows. For Windows I provide a compiled exe so that a Python installation isn't required.

Try this: Apple DL1443: Boot Camp Software Update 3.3 for Windows. It's called an update, but I suspect it doesn't require any pre-existing installed drivers.

That said, it's probably worth your while to keep a minimal OS X install, even if it's just on a spare external drive (you could probably get away with a 16 GB USB drive even). It gives you a good recovery option if anything goes wrong, and it also gives you a way to get the occasional firmware updates, which you can't install from Windows.

P.S. Perhaps I'm a bit of a 'paranoid ready-for-the-end-of-the-world' type, but anyway you look at it (or me) - I wouldn't recommend trusting third party downloads of drivers, unless you have the inside scoop on what goes into making them (which you don't). Why?

They are not responsible to you for supporting issues that occur, and they COULD contain malicious code.

Found a quicker answer for myself.. I figured out that only the URL to the pkg is HTTP. So I just start the download with Wireshark capture active, and use the 'follow TCP stream' option to get the URL when I see an IP address show up lots of times during the download. Add host and URL together and you have your Mac's specific URL.

This 'Apple DL1443: Boot Camp Software Update 3.3 for Windows' is definitely the required Update. I have a 2010 Macbook Pro with Snow Leopard (10.6.8) installed and couldn't get the right Boot Camp upgrade using any of the Apple download software from within the bootcamp Application. After installing this Update/Upgrade suddenly all of the required drivers appeared in the Windows 'Device manager' and everything started working perfectly

On its own, the 2018 MacBook Air is a downright terrible gaming machine. Connected to my LG UltraWide 5K2K Display, the MacBook Air averages around 1-2 frames per second in Rocket League, and similarly abysmal scores in Unigine Heaven and Valley benchmarks. That’s no fault of the MacBook Air, as it’s a thin and light portable laptop built around maximizing battery life. In other words, it was never intended to be a gaming machine.

But if you own a MacBook Air and are looking for ways to get more out of your laptop, then an eGPU setup within a Windows Boot Camp environment can go a long way towards making that a reality. Watch our hands-on video walkthrough for the step-by-step details.

Synology RT2600ac: The AirPort Extreme replacement.

Before we get started:

  1. Apple does not officially support eGPUs within Windows Boot Camp.
  2. The MacBook Air, with its single Thunderbolt 3 bus, can be extremely finicky when it comes to connecting other devices in addition to the eGPU.
  3. Don’t connect the eGPU until Windows is booted; with this in mind, the power switch present on the Razer Core X is helpful.

Hardware

Here’s everything I used to build this setup. Feel free to swap out any of the parts to meet your specific needs:

  • 2018 MacBook Air (base model) (review)
  • LG UltraWide 5K2K Display (review)
  • Razer Core X external graphics chassis (review)
  • eVGA GeForce RTX 2080 GPU
  • Samsung X5 SSD (review)

Gaming on MacBook Air without an eGPU!

As noted at the outset, attempting to play games on the 2018 MacBook Air by itself is a sad situation, especially when using a high-resolution external display like the LG UltraWide 5K2K. Here are the results from Unigine Heaven and Valley benchmarks using the integrated Intel UHD Graphics 617 GPU inside the MacBook Air:

😂

It’s no big surprise that the Intel UHD Graphics 617 can’t handle such settings at 3440×1440 resolution. But even when dropping down to 1080p and going for medium settings, things weren’t much better. This reiterates the fact that the MacBook Air just isn’t meant to be a gaming machine on its own. Thankfully, there’s Thunderbolt 3, which offers awesome expandability.

Step 1: Install Windows 10 on MacBook Air via Boot Camp Assistant

You can use our step-by-step hands-on video tutorial that shows how to install Windows 10 on your Mac.

Step 2: Set up the eGPU

The Razer Core X is the best eGPU for the Mac, and is big enough to accommodate large cards like EVGA’s RTX 2080. Install the card inside the external graphics chassis and connect it to the display via DisplayPort.

Step 3: Connect external storage to MacBook Air

I utilize external storage to house all of the games that I download from Steam and other sources. Connect your external storage to Thunderbolt 3 port 2 (the port further from the display) on the MacBook Air. Ensure that Windows recognizes the storage before continuing.

Step 4: Connect eGPU to MacBook Air

After the storage is connected, connect the Thunderbolt 3 cable from the eGPU to Thunderbolt 3 port 1 (the port closest to the MacBook Air display). Windows should recognize the connection and begin installing drivers for the RTX 2080. You can check Windows Update and Device Manager to check the status of the installation. Once the install is completed, you’ll be asked to reboot your computer.

Step 5: Install latest Nvidia drivers

Download and install the latest RTX 2080 drivers from Nvidia. You’ll be asked to reboot your MacBook Air again. Be sure to turn off or disconnect the eGPU from your Mac when the machine powers off. Reconnect the eGPU once you arrive back at the Windows desktop.

Performance improvements

Note the dramatic improvement in performance when running the RTX 2080 eGPU setup. Heaven and Valley benchmarks go from 2-3 frames per second on average to around 90 frames per second. The dual-core 1.6 GHz i5-8210Y CPU inside the MacBook Air means performance isn’t as good as the 2018 Mac mini eGPU setup we tested last week, but even with such an anemic CPU, the speed increase is noteworthy.

Rocket League, a title that was unplayable at 5120×2160, is highly playable when driven by the eGPU. Other games provided similar performance increases.

The MacBook Air, when driven by the RTX 2080 performs surprisingly well, certainly much better than I thought it would with its anemic dual-core processor.

As I stated at the outset, this tutorial isn’t here to convince people that the MacBook Air is a gaming machine, it’s purpose is to demonstrate that it’s possible to game on the 2018 MacBook Air via external add-ons. In other words, I wouldn’t go out and buy a MacBook Air with the intention to play games, but if you already own the machine, it’s good to know that it still has room to grow.

What do you think?
