QtDMM is not dead yet. QtDMM is a DMM readout software including a configurable recorder. A friend of mine asked me for a DMM readout software for Linux as the DOS software he had was not really usable. Additionally it featured numerous hefty translation errors in the GUI. To help him out I wrote this little piece of software.

CIS Department at NJIT
as part of the
Ph.D. in Management Degree Program
(Rutgers University in cooperation with NJIT)
Summary of Requirements
by
Murray Turoff
NJIT CIS Department Program Coordinator and Initial Advisor for Students
February 1999

The Computer Information Systems major in the Ph.D. in Management program trains students to do research on the use of computers in management. Areas of research for students in the major include planning, conception, design, development, implementation, testing, validation, evaluation, and management of communications and other computer technologies. Students also explore the impacts, consequences, and implications of computer systems on individuals, groups, organizations, and society. Full understanding of these issues may also require exploration of issues internal to the technologies. Thesis work includes the assessment of the relationship between internal technological issues and external consequences.

Requirements for the CIS major in the Ph.D. in Management Program

Characteristics of students most likely to be admitted

Applicants for this major should have a thorough working knowledge of computer technology, such as one would obtain in a bachelor's or master's program in Information Systems or Computer Science. This includes the ability to program in a systems development language such as C, knowledge of basic database models and structures, knowledge of a object oriented concepts, programming in an object oriented language such as C++ or Java, and knowledge of the concepts underlying an operating system. This knowledge may be obtained from work experience or from formal courses. A set of undergraduate and master's-level courses at NJIT that provide the required knowledge is:

  • CIS 505 Programming or CIS 113 and CIS 114 (for knowledge of C and data structures)
  • CIS 332 (for knowledge of operating systems)
  • CIS 601 Object Oriented Programming in C++
  • CIS 631 Data Management System Design
  • Students entering this major should normally have an MBA or an MS degree in some field of study relating to information systems or where information or computer systems are used.

Potential students who do not have the necessary knowledge of computer technology may acquire it by completing a master's degree in information systems at NJIT. Depending on the student's background, some of the work for such a master's degree may be chosen so as to satisfy at the same time some of the requirements for the CIS major in the Ph.D. in Management Program.

    Foundation/methodology requirement (4 courses)
  • 26:960:577 Introduction to Statistical Linear Models
  • 26:630:660 Qualitative Research Methods
  • CIS 677 Information System Principles
  • CIS 679 Management of Computer and Information Systems

  • Major (5 courses)

The major consists of a coherent set of four specialty courses chosen under the guidance of a faculty adviser, followed by CIS 776, an independent study course taken with the faculty adviser. These four courses must make a consistent set for some specified area of research of interest to the student. Courses from which the student and adviser may choose include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • CIS 634 Information Retrieval
  • CIS 658 Multimedia Systems
  • CIS 661 Systems Simulation
  • CIS 670 Artificial Intelligence
  • CIS 671 Knowledge-Based Systems
  • CIS 672 Expert Systems Methods and Design
  • CIS 673 Software Design and Production
  • CIS 674 Natural Language Processing
  • CIS 676 Requirements Engineering
  • CIS 683 Object-Oriented Software Development
  • CIS 684 Business Process Innovation
  • CIS 731 Applications of Data Base Systems
  • CIS 732 Design of Interactive Systems
  • CIS 735 Computer Mediated Communications Systems
  • CIS 754 Measurement and Evaluation for Software Quality and Performance
  • CIS 762 Computerized Information Systems for Planning and Forecasting
  • CIS 767 Computer-Based Decision Systems
  • CIS 775 Seminar in Software Engineering

  • The student may not enroll in CIS 776 until after the four major courses are completed or during the semester when they are completed. The purpose of the CIS 776 is to prepare the student to write a 'state of the art' paper that satisfies the Ph.D. in Management Program's second early research requirement.

    Minor (3 courses)

Students majoring in CIS must minor either in organization management or in data analysis. Students in either minor must take :

  • CIS 675 Evaluation of Information Systems.

  • Students with a minor in organization management should choose two additional courses from this list :

  • 26:620:555 Seminar in Organizational Behavior
  • 26:620:556 Seminar in Organizational Theory
  • 26:620:671 Management of Innovation and Technology
  • 26:620:677 Culture and Organizations

  • Students with a minor in data analysis should choose two additional courses from this list.

  • 26:630:668 Causal Modeling
  • 26:771:585 Control Models
  • 26:630:576 Quantitative Methods in Marketing
  • 26:630:625 Clustering
  • First early research requirement (equivalent to one course)

Full-time students must prepare for the first early research requirement by taking 26:960:577 Introduction to Statistical Linear Models in the fall and CIS 675 Evaluation of Information Systems in the spring of their first year. They must then participate in the program-wide early research seminar in the last two weeks of May after the first year. Then during the summer they enroll in 26:198:686, which requires that they write a paper under the supervision of a faculty member, to be presented to the CIS department during the following fall semester. Students who do not obtain approval early in the spring semester for an alternative plan are expected to choose the topic of the summer paper in consultation with the instructor in CIS 675. Part-time students may postpone participation in the early research seminar and enrollment in 26:198:686 until the second summer.

Second early research requirement (equivalent to one course)

Full-time students are expected to complete their course work by enrolling in CIS 776 during the spring semester of their second year. This is an independent study course with the faculty adviser, designed to prepare the student to write a 'state of the art' review paper focusing on the area he or she desires to do research in. In the summer after taking CIS 776, the student must enroll in 26:198:686 and complete the state of the art paper. This paper must meet the standards of scholarly work and be written as a review on the state of the art for fellow researchers in its topic area. It should emphasize current findings in the field and identify a range of researchable issues-not just the one issue the student will work on for his or her dissertation. It is expected that the paper will be the basis for the literature review included in the student's dissertation proposal. The state of the art paper will be reviewed by a faculty committee and the student may be required to take an examination (oral or written) on it.

    Functional field requirement

Every student must demonstrate competence at the MBA level in at least two of these four functional field of business: Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or Marketing. This may be done by showing practical experience in these fields or by passing courses at the master's level. Doctoral courses, because of their theoretical nature, usually do not satisfy this requirement. Students who do not have the required practical experience or course work before entering the program are expected to satisfy this requirement by passing MBA courses. Such course work should normally be postponed until the student is underway on a dissertation.

    Qualifying Examination

The qualifying examination is based on the material in CIS 677, CIS 675 and CIS 679. It is a four hour written examination given in early September and also in March if needed. There are standard reading lists for the three courses, which are held constant for each student at least one academic year preceding their examination.

    Advisement and Registration

All students entering the program in this major should immediately contact the departmental coordinator, Murray Turoff, in the CIS department at NJIT (973 596 3366, murray@vc.njit.edu, or on VC - EIES: Murray or 103). If potential waivers or transfers of courses in computer science and information systems need to be discussed, the student should have a transcript copy and material on prior courses (e. g., such as catalog descriptions or lists of books or material covered).

The CIS Department at NJIT is located on the fourth floor of the Information Technologies Building at Central Avenue and Lock Street. Department phone: 973-596-3366. The department secretaries can provide information on office hours for faculty you may wish to contact. The Ph.D. student should feel free to talk to faculty in areas of interest to them.

Voltcraft vc 960 software development pdf

Because the registration process for Rutgers students may cause delays, Ph.D. students may seek, and will usually be given, entry to closed sections by contacting Michael Tress (973-596-3385), Department Administrator.

    default (was $prefix/share/libsigrok/firmware before).
    * Fix a Makefile.am bug which caused the generated ChangeLog files being
    accidentally deleted upon 'make distclean'.
    * ChronoVu LA8 input file format: Improve autodetection of the file format.
We now only accept files of the size 8388613 bytes (all LA8 files have
    exactly this amount of bytes).
    0.1.0 (2012-04-17)
